I wrote this post as my Zander Basedepth pen name on Ski The East before we launched a new website. Looks like it disappeared in the switch, so putting it here to ensure it lives on. - AK
Snowmaking and natural snow will attract droves to wait in lines and avoid each other while descending KILLINGTON, Vt. (October 16, 2015) – Killington Resort, the largest four-season resort in Eastern North America, will kick off its 2015-16 winter season at noon on Sunday, October 18, 2015 becoming the first North American resort to open for skiing and snowboarding, unless some goofball with a rope tow jumps the gun and steals it. “Winter starts when we say it does,” noted Killington President Troy Polamalu. “We told it to start in September but for some reason that didn’t work so we’re trying again now and asking really nicely.”

The first turns of the season will be dedicated exclusively to Season Pass and Express Card holders because they’ll cut us more slack if the conditions are rough and it will split our audiences into two groups which works better on the couple trails we’ll have open. The resort will open to the general public on Monday, October 19, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. Killington’s operating schedule for the remainder of the week will be updated in real time at www.killington.com/conditions. It’s going to get warm and we’ll likely close but we’re totally ok with that because skiing is fun and opening early for a few days makes the phones ring like crazy. On Sunday, the K-1 Express Gondola will provide uploading and downloading to open terrain for skiers and snowboarders from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and the North Ridge Triple will allow uploading until 3:45 p.m. Skiers and snowboarders will “enjoy” the Peak Walkway to access open terrain and return to the K-1 Express Gondola for the trip down to the base area when finished for the day. It is here they will learn that they should have done some sort of preparation aside from crushing Bud Heavies. Early season conditions will exist, and snowmaking and other on-mountain operations may be in progress throughout the day on open terrain so keep your head out of your ass. Skiing and snowboarding will be on advanced terrain only, providing roughly 600 vertical feet of open trails to share with hundreds of your closest friends. Terrain park features will be available beginning on Sunday with mobs of youth and youth imitators standing above the features. No easier terrain will be available at this time nor should anyone less than an expert attempt to participate in this odd ritual. ### ***THIS IS NOT THE REAL PRESS RELEASE BUT KILLINGTON HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR SO THEY SAID GO FOR IT.
