Wintry Mix is a podcast about the people, places and issues of the winter economy.

It's produced from Vermont, but also covers regional, national and sometimes international items.

Give a listen to learn and maybe laugh.

who the heck is this guy?

Raised on the slopes of Vermont in the '80s, Alex Kaufman your host and producer spent seasons in Vail, Colorado living the quintessential out-of-your-truck/tent semi pro skier lifestyle in the late 90's.

After holding a full variety of ski town grunt jobs and carrying the golf bags of the rich and famous (and the President), Kaufman enrolled at Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat, later transferring to and graduating from MCLA in western Massachusetts.

Ran the ski club. Soccer captain. Pro skier but not that great. Met the future wife.

Though the areas of study were journalism, broadcasting and graduate studies in meteorology (via dial up), Kaufman hopped back into the ski business in 2003 as the snow reporter for Killington and was put in charge of communications for a string of ski resorts in the years that followed. Thanks for hiring me Kim.

Following nearly a decade as spokesperson of some of America’s largest ski resorts (within ASC, Boyne and Powdr) on both coasts, Kaufman’s back in Vermont raising a family and "keeping the shred alive" here on Wintry Mix in partnership with Vermont Pubic Radio.

He was also the online voice of Ski The East 2011-2016 and remains in the wolf pack as General Counsel.

Alex is not a journalist, nor does he aim to be. He's an industry insider. The podcast strives to be entertaining and credible, but opinions are allowed.

So are jokes. You can handle it.

Have an event coming up that could use a broad appeal PG-13 MC?

Alex has announced large events at and near ski areas since 2004 for thousands of spectators.

You basically get the podcast schtick at your event and he's good at working in your promotional messages gently. People tend to enjoy.

He's also moderated numerous ski industry panels at professional development conferences while still making people laugh.
